Hockey Tournament Wrapup

The late Foster Hewitt coined the phrase “he shoots, he scores.” When The Bridle Bash Foundation came looking for participants, volunteers and sponsors for their 1st Annual, Boyz in The Hood Hockey Tournament, the goals came in bunches. Everybody who participated came out a winner…everybody scored a hat trick.

The event took place at The Ice Gardens of York University with eight adult teams squaring off in a round-robin format. The tournament showcased slap shots and great saves, small hits and big spills. We had players as old as 16, others as young as 52. If a spectrum can be measured by the amount of smiles, all participants had a great time. When the fog had finally settled, the Broad St. Bashers won 6-5 in thrilling overtime fashion.

Just prior to the championship game, our children took to the ice for our featured youth game. The final score was 11-10 for the White team, but like all BBF events nobody left the arena a loser. In fact, you are all champions. From Sophie to Max and Adam to Ethan thank you all for putting smiles on all our faces. One last special mention is due here. To our four talented goalies, you guys were all-stars.

The cornerstone of every BBF event is the concept of philanthropy and inclusion. In this respect The Foundation scored a plethora of goals. How else can one explain the fact that every one of our sport-fund raisers have included three generations of participants, volunteers and spectators? This is a fact we are very proud of. Talking of proud, the organizing committee is thrilled to announce that the tournament raised 20K for The Foundation.

To all of our cherished volunteers and sponsors, we have known all along that you guys are aces. You are always there for us, you are like a one way street that always says yes. From the organizing committee, we say thank you for helping make dreams come true. We thank you for being you.
